Families Against Incinerator Risk

FAIR was founded in 1996 by community members concerned with the fact that Utah has the highest rate of toxic air emissions per capita in the country. We are a grassroots organization with over 1,000 members. We work with regulators, representatives, and industry to ensure that our public health is being protected. We are currently working on a campaign to stop the burning of chemical weapons that is taking place just 40 miles southwest of Salt Lake City. The Army is attempting to burn over 27 million pounds of nerve and mustard agent at a facility that has been plagued with safety and design problems. We are pushing for the safer alternative technologies that have been developed to be brought to Utah so we can safely neutralize these lethal chemicals.

Mission Statement

The mission of Families Against Incinerator Risk is to protect public health by reducing Utah's toxic air emissions
