Mission Statement
The mission of Barrett Foundation is to provide housing and supportive services to women and children who are striving to break the cycle of homelessness.
Description
The Barrett Foundation provides homeless women and children with shelter, food, clothing, and case management services. We offer a nurturing environment with clean beds, pleasant rooms, and healthy meals.
Our case managers provide life skills training in parenting, financial literacy, stress and time management, and career development. Our goal is that clients rebuild their self-esteem, develop the skills they need to live independently, move to stable housing, and lead productive lives.
Transitional and permanent housing is also available through congregate care, single site apartment, and scattered site apartment programming.
Barrett House is our emergency shelter that serves more than 800 homeless women and children each year, providing an average of 22,000 meals, 7,000 bed nights, and over 1,000 hours of case management a year.
Our programs include transitional housing venues to help women move from homelessness to independent living. Whereas some clients require only short-term assistance at our shelter, some need to gain additional skills and require long-term support before returning to independent housing.
It’s rewarding for us to share how lives changed for our clients and their children and how they have risen above the tragedies that plagued their lives before coming to Barrett.
