Mission Statement

Provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer "blanketeers."

Provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested indiciduals and groups (adults AND kids) in local communities, for the benefit of children.

Description

We create and distribute handmade blankets for local children in crisis, suffering a serious illness, and emotional or physical trauma.

Blankets can be tied fleece, quilted or tied cotton fabric, knitted, or crocheted. You don't have to be experienced. We also can use help at our monthly working meetings, so if you can sort, count, inspect, and package blankets, WE NEED YOU!

These blankets are distributed by us to Ain Dah Yung shelter, Amplatz Children's Hospital, Community Action Partnership of Suburban Hennepin, Gillette Children's Hospital, Gospel Hill Camp (Union Gospel Mission), Jewish Family & Children's Service, Mary's Place (Sharing & Caring Hands), Methodist Hospital, Minneapolis Children's Hospital, Miracles of Mitch Foundation, PrairieCare, Project Child (Hennepin Co.), Shriners Children's Hospital, St. David's Center, St. Paul Children's Hospital, TreeHouse Youth, and individual children when notified of a need.

Is your group, organization, or employer looking for a service project? We will help you organize a fun and successful blanket-making day! We can give hands-on help and guidance if needed.

We usually have materials available at our meetings, and you can learn blanket-making skills from any of our friendly volunteers.
