Mission Statement

It is the mission of Junior Achievement to ensure that every child has a fundamental understanding of the free enterprise system and their role in it. We educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, business and economics, and prepare them to succeed in the global economy.

Description

JA Worldwide is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs.

Junior Achievement programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. Students put these lessons into action and learn the value of contributing to their communities.

This organization is great! I loved how they are teaching children real life skills. I look back at my education and I see how the foundations helped, but it did not prepare me for the difficultly of being an adult. And this program strives to do that and to help encourage children to become great humans in our society. I was happy to do this. I hope I can do it again someday.

JA programs are fun and easy. You are given all of the materials you need to teach a class. The volunteer commitment is small, only about 5 hours per class which can be done all at once or over a few weeks. You can also request the age/grade and school of your choice to volunteer in. This is a great way to give back to your community.
