Disaster Volunteer Opportunities: Disaster Action Team (DAT): DAT provides 24/7 response to community disasters, particularly house fires. DAT provides financial assistance to those affected for housing, food, and other immediate needs. DAT also initiates recovery planning and support. This position may appeal to those with flexible schedules, who are committed to being on-call to aid their community during local disasters. Minimum shift requirements do exist. Training time is approximately 10.5 hours to become a fully vetted team member. (Hybrid) DAT Duty Officer (DDO): This is a virtual dispatcher position. When a local disaster occurs, the DDO deploys on-call DAT members to respond. The DDO serves as the response coordinator, communicating with all parties to facilitate the response. This position may appeal to those with flexible schedules that want a virtual, high impact position. Minimum shift requirements do exist. Training time is approximately 15 hours to become a fully vetted team member. (Virtual) Event Reviewer: Using Red Cross systems, volunteers confirm and document disaster events (home fire, flood, tornado, etc.) in collaboration with disaster responders and partner organizations. Comfortable with technology, working with deadlines and timelines. Minimum shift requirements do exist. (Virtual- can be located anywhere in CO-WY Region) P reparedness Home Fire Campaign: Collaborate with local diversity partners to educate community members on home fire safety and free smoke alarm installations. There are many volunteer opportunities throughout the year, from individual appointments to large events within at-risk communities. Your local Red Cross team is in need of volunteer disaster dispatchers. In this virtual role, you will dispatch our Disaster Action Teams (DAT) to local disasters, particularly homes fires, ensuring those affected have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing. You will also monitor the response to ensure appropriate resources are made available. *Must be able to work one 6 hour on call shift per week. 4 per month Key Responsibilities: May determine if Red Cross action is required; may decide if Red Cross will respond via Disaster Action Team (team of 2 Red Cross responders). Uses event triggers such as size, scope, and type of the event to direct the DAT response. Works with on-scene DAT leadership to support the response and provide technical guidance. Support and trains new Duty Officers. Functional Dispatch DAT members and monitor the response to ensure appropriate resources are made available. Activate Disaster Health Services, Disaster Mental Health, and Disaster Spiritual Care, Public Affairs when requested. Documents incoming disaster notification and creates & verifies when applicable. May be required to monitor activity across multiple DAT responses. Notify Chapter and Regional staff of significant events, and contribute to an Initial Incident Report, when appropriate. Attends regularly scheduled team/DAT meetings as required by Chapter/Region.

Support implementation of the regional recognition plan by helping to create annual awards events, working with departments to support their recognition activities, sending birthday and thank you cards, and other activities. (Virtual or In-Person) Profile Maintenance: Provide administrative support to all departments by learning and working with the Volunteer Connection software to ensure all volunteer records are current and accurate. (Virtual or In-Person) Business Operations: Administrative Support Team Lead: Support the overall administrative functions of the Operations department and its staff by helping to process vendor payments, manage document retention and vendor contracts and relationships; coordinate work orders for fleet and facilities maintenance and repairs; Copy, file, and maintain paper or electronic documents. Time commitment is 2-3 hours a week. (In-Person) Onboarding Member: Provide new volunteer team members with department orientation, required training, support and supervision, as they begin their volunteer position. (Virtual) Donor Relations: Support stewardship efforts by conducting donor thank you activities. Help track benefits for donors by creating a benefits tracker and assisting in tracking these benefits. Brainstorm and design creative thank you touchpoints, including donor gifts. Populate recognition certificates and plaques for donors, third-party fundraising events, or in-kind donors. Time commitment about 3-5 hours per week.
