Description

TRWF’s mission is to support and empower rural water and wastewater utilities and the poor communities they serve by developing innovative, collaborative programs that provide resources and build the capacity of utilities. TRWF is a supporting organization to the Texas Rural Water Association (TRWA) and is a non-profit under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. TRWF’s VISTA program includes three projects with two members each. In Project 1, VISTAs develop new research and education programs; and launch fundraising and marketing to support these programs. In Project 2, VISTAs coordinate a new program to train and assist veterans in securing a job with rural water and wastewater utilities; and develop new projects to 1) advocate careers in the water and wastewater industry to veterans, high school and college students; and 2) promote better pay and professional recognition for rural water operators. In Project 3, VISTAs develop training materials and manuals for instructor-led classes and online self-directed education for rural water and wastewater system staff.
