Mission Statement

Wichita Friends School seeks to provide a high quality academic experience within a supportive learning environment that reflects the Quaker values of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality and stewardship.

Description

Wichita Friends School is an independent Quaker Christian school serving students in preschool through 3rd grade. We are delighted that you are interested in learning more about our school. Please explore our website to see all that Wichita Friends School has to offer. I think you will find that WFS is a truly unique learning community. We are fully accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement/AdvanceED, which assures that core academic standards are met. Every teacher at WFS has a Bachelors degree and teacher certification.

Our Alphabetic Phonics program has demonstrated excellent results. Our students consistently score higher than the national average on reading assessments and develop an early love of reading. You will be amazed at how quickly your student will move from learning to read to reading to learn!

Wichita Friends School provides Spanish instruction for all students. We feel that knowing other languages and understanding other cultures is a necessary skill set for students as they prepare to live and work in a global society. Studies have shown that foreign language learning increases critical thinking skills, creativity, and flexibility of mind in young children. At Wichita Friends School, we acknowledge diversity and teach acceptance and appreciation for people of all cultures.

In addition to our core academic standards, Wichita Friends School seeks to encourage our students’ social-emotional development. Our Peaceful Conflict Resolution program is a tool that guides children through the process of how to express their feelings appropriately when conflict arises. In this process, a student is encouraged to have a face-to-face discussion with the other student involved. Opportunities are provided for both sides to share their feelings. In the end, both students collaborate to devise a mutually agreeable solution to the problem and a plan for what can be done to avoid future conflict.

Through our Christian teachings and compassionate, competent faculty, your child will grow in mind, body, and spirit at Wichita Friends School.
