Mission Statement

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Johnson County is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

Description

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Johnson County has been linking children and adults in one-to-one friendships for over 30 years. We are a local affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and a youth program of Johnson County Extension. We have options for children and volunteers to participate in a community based and school based mentoring programs. Our goal is to match children with adults in order to provide positive role models.

I personally have never been involved in a Big Brother Big SIster mentorship program but I have been very interested in taking part for several years. I am an elementary education student and have a lot of experience working with kids. I think it is really a necessity for children to have a role model that they can relate and interact with. I hope to do so with a student in the Iowa City area. I want to get involved and have an impact on this student's life!
