Mission Statement

The Assistance League of Capistrano Valley is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We put caring and commitment into action through philanthropic programs that support children in Capistrano Valley and Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. We have been serving the community for over 40 years. Member volunteers are dedicated to ongoing support and a long-term presence in the community. Our innovative philanthropic programs are primarily funded by our Bargain Box Thrift Store located in San Clemente. Our programs include clothing events, grants to middle schools, scholarships and literacy.

Description

Founded in 1977, our chapter's volunteers support the students in the elementary and middle schools within the Capistrano Unified School District in south Orange County. In a joint project with other local Assistance League chapters, we also help support the families on the Camp Pendleton Marine Base.

Our philanthropic organization provides many volunteer opportunities to serve the communities of Aliso Viejo, Capistrano Beach, Coto de Caza, Dana Point, Ladera Ranch, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano.

Our main source of funding comes from the Bargain Box, our chapter's thrift store, which is run by our volunteer members. The generous donations brought in from our community are sold and the proceeds are used to help the local children and military families stationed at Camp Pendleton.

My sister-in-law has been a part of the Assistance League for almost 20 years. She suggested that I check into the Assistance League in our area. I have been working for this excellent organization for four years! Every aspect of the volunteer opportunities have been rewarding and fun! I am grateful for the positive contributions our members give to the families in our community! The Bargain Box is a wonderful place to shop for clothing and find treasures for your home! It is truly a joyful organization to belong to!!!

When I retired from teaching, I wanted to give back to my community, to use my skills, and to meet friends. Joining Assistance League of Capistrano Valley let me do all of these. Besides being able to work at our thrift store, The Bargain Box, in San Clemente (btw...is so much fun!), our group has been able to help the students in the Capistrano Unified School District and the children in families on Camp Pendleton. We have provided new school clothing to many children each year and have given significant scholarships to high school and college students. And...we are looking for more opportunities to help even more people in our community. We meet once a month and have lots of opportunities to have social interactions with this very special group of women who live from Mission Viejo to San Clemente. Come and join us!

I have been a member volunteer of this amazing nonprofit for four years. It is extremely rewarding to serve children in the community. I was relatively new to the area when I joined and becoming a member was an opportunity to meet people and participate in activities. I am so happy that I joined this organization as it has been rewarding in so many ways.
