The event was not well organized. There were no distinct jobs instead they had you floating everywhere and instructions were not clear. After working 2 hours in the food prep area we were told they needed us somewhere else. Without warning we were told to jump in a trailer and dropped off 2 miles away from the main event in one of the race courses. I was a "safety cone" standing under the blazing sun, with no water, and no restroom facilities for 2 hours. After the race I was never picked up and had to walk back the 2 miles. Because of signs of dehydration I had to finish my volunteer work early. If I would have been advised of my job, I would have been prepared for the conditions. Volunteers are an important part of an event. Much of the event couldn't be possible without them. Take care of your volunteers and you will always have a well staffed event.
