From when I was first told about volunteering as a positive experience, I had no time for it. When I began with GLC 6 months later, it was a struggle to connect with the clients. It only took a few visits for my feelings about this opportunity to drastically change for the better. I have been with GLC since December and it has been a tremendous blessing! Every interaction with the client is different, every experience (respite, vigiling, shadowing) has provided great learning lessons. Driving to volunteer, during each experience, and leaving each visit is rewarding on a soul level. Volunteering can provide feelings of warmth, love, fulfillment that no other experience can offer. All staff I have met thus far has been caring, compassionate, and dedicated to clients as well as welcoming and warm towards me. The volunteer coordinator is committed to best support her volunteers. She runs a well-organized volunteer program and offers a diverse arrangement of opportunities.
