Mission Statement

The Friends Program, is a non-profit human service organization, administratively based in Concord, serving eight counties in New Hampshire. The mission of the Friends Program is to strengthen communities by building relationships that empower people, encourage community service and restore faith in the human spirit. Friends Program oversees four programs including an emergency housing shelter, Friends Youth Mentoring, the Foster Grandparent Program and RSVP Program. The Friends Program serves thousands of children, older adults and families through the efforts of 2,500 volunteers in 8 counties. Description

RSVP is a National Service program that taps the skills, talents and experience of more than half a million Americans to meet community needs in education, the environment, public safety, homeland security, and other impact areas. Friends RSVP, serving in Merrimack, Rockingham, Strafford and Belknap Counties, mobilizes caring individuals to meet community needs by sharing their time and talents through meaningful volunteer activities at more than 85 non-profit and municipal organizations. More than 600 RSVP volunteers serve local senior nutrition programs, food banks, congregate meal sites; provide transportation and companionship to elderly persons to help them remain independent; serve as tutors and mentors for youth; help veterans and active military members; and help public and non-profit agencies provide hundreds of services to people more economically.

RSVP also provides older persons opportunities to remain active in meaingful volunteer roles in their communities, helping them remain healthy longer.
