Mission Statement

RSVP is nationwide, but is sponsored locally by the Ulster County Community College, Stone Ridge, New York. Our mission is:

To enrich the community through volunteer placements that utilize the talents, interests and experience of persons 55 and older,

Enhance the lives of the volunteers and those they serve;

Provide valuable volunteer services that address the needs of the community and affect a measurable difference.

Description

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.

RSVP of Ulster County has been able to function pretty well with a very limited amount of $$. Most of my efforts have been to the "Queen's Galley" (@ the corner of Main St & Washington Ave here in Kingston. Unlike RSVP, Queen's Galley Operates Solely Through Volunteers w/ one poorly) paid employee & through donations of both $$ & Food/Supplies.
