Mission Statement
Provide comprehensive services for at risk youth within the framework of the Balanced and Restorative Justice Model. Community Protection, Accountability, and Competency Development are integrated goals and philosophical foundations of the model.
Description
Juvenile Justice Services focuses on the three areas of the Restorative Justice Model. First, community protection; staff monitor and direct the youth in their programs or in the community. Second, accountability; the staff and volunteers create and pursue community service projects within the community to teach empathy and give the youth a chance to give back to their community. Third, competency development; through staff and volunteer involvement the youth are taught new skills, hobbies and leisure activities to ensure they are more competent to deal with issues that may have lead them into their delinquent behaviors. This also introduces new resources in the community they can access upon release from custody and improves their self-esteem.
