Mission Statement

California State University, Fresno's Students For Community Service (SCS) program is dedicated to promoting the value and importance of community service and service-learning to students, faculty and staff. SCS is responsible for all activities related to the University's role in establishing service oriented partnerships between the University, other educational institutions and the community we serve. SCS seeks to provide students with quality volunteer experiences that cultivate a lifelong service-ethic which will stimulate and enhance the educational experience at all levels.

Description

Students for Community Service (SCS) serves students at California State University, Fresno, as well as local nonprofits and others interested in community service and service-learning opportunities. SCS coordinates approximately 20 distinct service initiatives and works with over 240 nonprofit agencies to help recruit and match students and service agency volunteer needs. We maintain a database of service opportunities, as well as referral links to various local, national and international service agencies. SCS also provides educators with information and resources on how to incorporate community service-learning into their courses.
