Advocates For Classical Music

Every year Advocates For Classical Music (AFCM) introduces many thousands of youngsters to the pleasures and excitement of classical music through the work of our music docent and the support of about 150 members.

AFCM collaborates with Classics 4 Kids and the San Diego Symphony. Docents design entertaining and informative classroom training sessions and present them to students prior to attending the live concerts; musical CDs are donated and enrich school music resources. AFCM provides concert tickets and bus transportation for Title I schools, allowing students from low-income areas to attend these concerts.

AFCM also provides scholarships to SD Symphony concerto-competition winners and helps fund the SD Unified School District's instrument-repair program.
