Mission Statement
Volunteer Los Angeles, a service of Assistance League of Southern California, is committed to building a strong, viable network of concerned and compassionate people who believe volunteer action creates needed change and elevates our sense of community.
Description
Volunteer Los Angeles is a new iteration of an organization founded in 1951. Formerly Volunteer Center of Los Angeles, we have evolved into one of the largest volunteer centers in the nation. Every year, Volunteer Los Angeles connects more than 80,000 volunteers of all ages to build opportunity for struggling children and adults, create environmental impact, support schools and government services, keep neighborhoods safe, and transform our community.
Through this work, we support more than 800 nonprofits and public agencies across Los Angeles, helping them deliver on their missions through the powerful investment of volunteer action.
But we don’t want to stop there... We believe bringing strategic human capital to organizations is every bit as important as financial capital.
Research shows organizations that strategically engage volunteers to deliver on their missions are able to be as or more effective as their counterparts - at half the cost. In difficult economic times, investment in volunteering is the right move for nonprofits and public agencies struggling to meet their goals. We are expanding our investment in organizations across Los Angeles.
We also believe in the power of partnership and collaboration. Volunteer Los Angeles is always on the lookout for nonprofits, businesses, government agencies, faith groups, schools, and others wanting to join forces to create deep impact in our community. We don’t want to engage in "business as usual". We are committed to working with others, building real solutions to meet real community needs.
