Description

Established in 1812, New York City Mission Society programs have provided pathways out of poverty to many generations of New Yorkers in need.

We are pleased to report that in the last year alone, Mission Society programs enriched the lives of 13,000 individuals in Harlem, the Lower East Side, the Bronx, and Brooklyn. Young people constitute the majority of our clients, although we serve people of all ages. We are committed to increasing the self-sufficiency of children and families challenged by poverty through programs, services, and events that focus on education, personal growth & development, prevention, and arts & recreation.

While our work is anchored by the value we place on education, we also seek to address the critical developmental issues facing young people and their families. Within this context, we offer after-school services, an adolescent pregnancy prevention program, mentoring, career readiness workshops, and school retention/drop-out prevention programs.
