Mission Statement
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competiton in a variety of Olympics-type sports for childrena and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demostrate courage, experience joy and participating in a sharing of gifts, skills adn friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Description
Special Olympics Florida - St. Lucie County offers over 15 different Sporting events each yaer to athletes with intellectual disabilities. Within many of these sports, we also offer an oppurtunity for athletes without disabilties to compete alongside Special Olympics Athletes in a program called Unified Sports. All of our programs are offered to our athletes and partners at no cost to them or their families. Outside of the sports training, Special Olympics is the largest provider of free health care screening for people with intellectual disabilities in the world. Special Olympics is changing the lives of our athletes.
