Description

The AAUW (American Association of University Women), founded in 1881, is a national organization, which promotes education and equity for all women and girls. The Association has 1,000 branches nationwide with a membership of 100,000, making it the second largest women's organization in the United States. AAUW funds pioneering research on girls and education, community action projects, and fellowships and grants for outstanding women. The AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund provides funds and a support system for women seeking judicial redress for sex discrimination in higher education. In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or class.
