Mission Statement

CitySquash is a not-for-profit after-school enrichment program based in the Bronx at Fordham University. The organization helps motivated and talented young people from economically disadvantaged households in the Bronx fulfill their academic, athletic and personal potential.

Description

Founded in 2002, CitySquash is a youth development program based in the Bronx at Fordham University. We help motivated youth from at-risk backgrounds fulfill their academic, athletic and personal potential. For our 140 elementary, middle, high school and college students, CitySquash is an intensive, year-round commitment that starts as early as 3rd grade and lasts through college graduation.

Our programming includes squash, tutoring, mentoring, community service, travel, high school placement, college prep and more. CitySquashers play squash and receive academic tutoring on Fordham University's Bronx campus, in the neighborhood where most CitySquashers live and go to school. CitySquash's Learning Center, three blocks from Fordham's campus on 187th Street, is the site of individual tutoring sessions and classes. On weekends, team members practice, study, compete in tournaments, take cultural field trips and do community service. In the summer, CitySquash runs an academic and squash camp and sends team members to sleep-away wilderness, academic and squash camps.
