Mission Statement

Established in Frederick in 1993 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, our mission is to help provide affordable housing for families in need.

Description

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Since 1993, Frederick Habitat has built or renovated 33 homes, transforming the lives of 116 adults and children. We have mobilized more than 2,000 volunteers, and trained each partner family in budgeting, home repair, safety and maintenance. These homes are scattered throughout Frederick County, in communities like Middletown, Brunswick, Frederick City, Thurmont, Emmitsburg and Buckeystown. In line with our "hand up, not hand out" philosophy, we partner with hardworking Frederick County families who cannot qualify for a conventional mortgage, and have no other way to own a home of their own. Our partner families work side-by-side with volunteers from the community to build or renovate their homes.
