Mission Statement

The Migrant and Immigrant Community Action Project (MICA Project) is a community organization committed to working with low-income immigrants to overcome barriers to justice. The MICA Project utilizes legal services, organizing, advocacy, and education to promote the voice and human dignity of immigrant communities.

Description

The MICA Project provides legal services to immigrants and migrants in cases involving family immigration, naturalization, removal defense, and asylum and refugee issues. We strive to work WITH our clients, making sure you understand and are involved in every step of the process.

SLIDING SCALE

Fees are charged on an affordable sliding scale. Payment plans are available. Free services are available for those with serious financial need, and all of our services are provided at a discounted rate.

In certain types of cases, individuals with an attorney are four to six times more likely to win their case. We believe access to legal services is a basic component of the American commitment to access to justice. We strive to make our services accessible for low-income clients.

RESOURCES FOR SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE

In addition to many other types of cases, the MICA Project works with victims and survivors of domestic violence. We will soon update this page with more information. For now, click herefor a guide for writing a personal statement for a U visa application.
