Description
BARK is a non-profit canine rescue group that saves adoptable and abandoned dogs from euthanization at local shelters surrounding the Richmond VA area. Volunteer work occurs at various locations including Ashland, Richmond and surrounding areas where administrative work is done on home computers. We are 100% volunteer-operated. We find new homes for 400-600 dogs each year. We also typically have over 100 dogs in our care (and foster homes) at any given time who are in various stages of the rescue process (needing vaccinations, medical care, looking for a new home, etc). Prior to being available for adoption, all BARK dogs are spay/neutered, given vaccinations, and have tested negative for heartworms. Our low adoption fee covers standard medical care for the dogs, but surgeries, heartworm treatment, transport, etc. are all paid for based on donations.
