Mission Statement
This Foundation will concentrate on education through awareness with a special focus on promoting adoption of homeless dogs and cats. We will work closely with animal shelters, rescues and other not for profit organizations who share similar goals.
We will be part of the solution to the very serious problem of animal overpopulation by promoting adoption and educating on the importance of spaying and neutering. This will be accomplished by community events, programs and outreach.
Our long-term goal is to provide a sanctuary for dogs and cats in which no unnecessary euthanasia will take place.
We will be well known in our community as a Foundation of integrity and one that makes a positive difference in the lives of others. This Foundation believes in the possibility that through education, awareness and inspiration, we will one day have more loving homes than homeless pets.
Description
15th Annual Bow-Wows & Meows Pet Fair, Sunday October 11,11 am--4 pm.
The popular fair will feature an exciting lineup of entertainment, pet-related vendors as well as low cost adoptions from six Los Angeles County shelters. All pets are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and licensed at time of adoption.
"Our mission is to celebrate pets, encourage animal awareness and promote pet adoption. We're happy that thousands of people agree and join us each year to participate," said founder Yvonne Allbee. "Of course, our biggest thrill is when these wonderful pets find homes. Last year, we adopted out close to 170 dogs and cats. We’d like to increase that number in 2015."
Since it began in 2000, the Valencia-based Bow-Wows & Meows, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, has adopted out more than 1,360 shelter animals at their annual pet fairs. "Adoption is not only cost-effective, it saves shelter animals and reduces the overpopulation problem created by breeders and pet stores," Allbee said. "At Bow-Wows & Meows, our goal is to give every shelter pet a second chance at a wonderful life."
