Mission Statement

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service.

Description

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society's signature fundraising event held in more than 5,200 communities and 20 countries. We are proud to be the largest nonprofit fundraising event in the world!

At Relay For Life, we come together as a community for 12 hours to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has already taken too much. Relay teams of families, coworkers, and friends camp out overnight and take turns walking around a track or path. Because cancer never sleeps, neither do we! Each team is asked to have at least one participant walking at all times. At Relay, we provide entertainment, games, mission activities, food, and a handful of inspirational ceremonies to make this event one to remember.
