Mission Statement

We have two areas of focus for a program we will launch in Sept. 2013 in two low income housing projects (LA CO Housing Authority). They are 1) Youth Afterschool Program targeting youth 18 and under that will provide educational support including tutoring, mentoring, arts and culture and other enrichment activities, personal enhancement group workshop, computer literacy and fieldtrips related to group research and study; and 2) Adults Education and Workforce Development Program that will provide job preparedness and placement assistance, employment skills development & assessment, credit counseling and financial literacy, job counseling, job retention and expungement workshops and adult literacy (ESL, GED, Computer literacy).

Description

The Office of Samoan Affairs (OSA) is a non-profit community based organizaition that has served the southbay area in Southern CA for over 35 years. Initially, founded to address the myriad needs of the Samoan Americans who were "falling through the cracks" regarding services and resources because of cultural and language barriers. Although OSA target population is the Samoan Americans, it's mission has exteneded to include all individuals and families who are at-risk, economically disadvantaged and disenfranchised reference accessing services. OSA has staff members who speak Armenian, English, Farsi, Portugues, Samoan, Spanish, Tagalog and Tongan.
