Mission Statement
The Elf Project provides assistance to children of families in need during the Christmas holiday season and keeps children at the heart of Christmas. Families in need are solicited through churches, the Interfaith Compassion Coalition, Head Start, and other local organizations. Applicant families must provide references, and their financial need is verified. Donors provide both the financial resources and shop directly with the parents of these children.
Description
The Elf Project for A Child's Christmas is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to taking back Christmas by providing Christmas presents for those who most need them in the Knoxville, TN area! Growing slowly but steadily, often simply by word of mouth, we have been serving Knox and Anderson County families since 2004. In 2012 we provided assistance to 298 children. We are able to do this by accepting donations, and enabling shopper/donors or shopper/volunteers to assist those parents in need of help. Shoppers meet the applicant for shopping and the applicant picks out the presents for his or her children, up to $50 per child. The shopper pays the bill.
