Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
Our mission reflects the life-changing impact that a wish has on children, families, referral sources, donors, and the greater community.
Since 1983, Make-A-Wish New Jersey has brought hope, strength and joy to more than 7,400 seriously-ill children throughout all 21 counties in every city, town, and municipality in the Garden State.
Wishes are granted to medically eligible children between the ages of 2 ½ and 18 years old. A wish is the child’s answer to the question, "If you could have one wish, what would it be?"
A wish come true empowers children with life-threatening medical conditions to fight harder against their illnesses. When they are granted a wish, they get more than just a great experience for a day, two days, or a week. The experience improves the quality of life for the wish child and their entire family. It helps children feel stronger, more energetic, and more willing and able to battle their life-threatening medical conditions. For many of them, it marks a turning point in their fight against their illness. For their doctors, nurses, and other health professionals, the wish experience works in concert with medicine to make their patients feel better, emotionally and even physically.
