Mission Statement
Bellingham Sail and Power Squadron is a non-profit, educational organization dedicated to making boating safer and more enjoyable. Our three primary objectives are: community service, continuing education, and enjoying the friendship and camaraderie or our fellow members.
Description
Bellingham Sail and Power Squadron (BSPS) is a unit of the US Power Squadrons, the largest non-profit boating organization in the United States. BSPS is an all-volunteer organization and was founded in Bellingham, Washington over 50 years ago. It has been serving our community ever since by providing boating safety courses on a regular basis to boaters in our area. Successfully completing our boating safety course meets the educational requirements for boat operation in the state of Washington.
BSPS also performs courtesy vessel safety checks in a cooperative program with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. We help the National Ocean Service keep nautical charts accurate by reporting chart corrections that we have observed and documented. We provide assistance in community events that are water-related.
BSPS currently has over 180 members and we offer many activities in which to participate--both on land and on the water.
