Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee Office On Aging Senior Nutrition Mobile Meals Progr
The Senior Nutrition "Mobile Meals" Program is the "Meals on Wheels" Program for Knoxville-Knox County, TN. The program provides hot,nutritious meals to the homebound elderly. The program is currently serving over 800 individuals on 61 routes. Currently, 57 routes are delivered by volunteers, Monday through Friday. Volunteers also check on the seniors while delivering meals and report any problems to the nutrition staff who in turn get help for the senior(s).
The SNP also provides congregate meals for seniors to come to nutrition sites and receive the same meals as the Mobile Meals, but at a nutrition site where social activity is combined with the meals program. Currently, about 350 meals are served daily in the congregate program.
