Mission Statement
The mission of the Railroad and Heritage Museum is to collect, preserve, and exhibit the history of railroading in the Southwest United States, in order to engage a diverse audience in appreciating their heritage as a part of the foundation for their future. The Museum accomplishes this through an archives collection, exhibitions, programs, and publications that enlighten, educate, and entertain all ages
Description
The Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum is located inside a restored 1911 Santa Fe depot. The museum exhibits cover local history and regional railroading history. The museum also has an outdoor collection of railroad equipment, including the Santa Fe 3423 steam locomotive, a 1937 Santa Fe diesel switch engine, a 1913 Pullman sleeper car, and a variety of other rolling stock. The museum is also home to an extensive archive of railroading history, particularly relating to the Santa Fe Railway.
