As a college student home for the summer, my goal was to do something meaningful and valuable with my time. I found that through volunteering with Heartland Hospice. I could never replace all the wonderful experiences I gained. All the people who work there are so gifted at what they do and were so helpful and receptive to all my questions. Also, I was very impressed with Heartland's strong commitment to caring for each patient's physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs. I was especially struck by the amount of respect shown to patients and the personal care and attention they receive. Volunteering with Heartland was probably the best thing I did all summer and I plan on taking advantage of every opportunity I have to volunteer with them again whenever I can in the future.

Mere words could never truly express the depth or magnitude of blessings that encompass the experiences I've had through this organization. The foundations of Heartland Hospice are firmly built on compassion and love, which are concepts that ultimately shine through the special individuals that make the organization what it is. As a future nurse, my volunteering experiences have given me a unique perspective into healthcare, and essentially the preciousness of the emotional and spiritual aspects of life. Again, I would highly recommend volunteer work through this organization; an organization that possesses clear evidence of the Love of Christ moving in Cincinnati.

I have been volunteering for Heartland Hospice for 3 months. The training I received was professional and I felt prepared to work in the fields I chose. There is genuine love and respect for each patient in Heartland Hospice, and care plans are discussed and revised frequently. I have observed various care givers with their patients and all have been competent and compassionate. Every member of the team plays an important part in the total care of each patient and their family, and even the volunteer's opinions are valued. The Heartland Hospice team truly cares for their patients and as a volunteer, it is my privilege to be part of the team.

From day one I've been impressed with Heartland's commitment to caring for the whole person: physically, mentally, and spiritually. The opportunity to work with individuals in the environment that Heartland strives to provide is at once humbling and uplifting. Their operation is very well organized and designed to transmit information from patient to caretaker as efficiently as possible. I only hope the people with which I have worked have received as much from the experience as I have.

I have been volunteering through Heartland Hospice for over a month now. I am a Social Work student at Northern Kentucky University and Heartland Hospice was recommended to me by a fellow classmate to fulfill my field placement. It has been an incredible learning experience as well as an opportunity to join an amazing team in providing care to patients and their family. Although their office is in Milford, Heartland Hospice provides care in skilled nursing homes and patient's homes all around Cincinnati, so there is a volunteer location near you. I would recommend Heartland Hospice to anyone looking for a new volunteer experience!
