The Backside Learning Center provides free educational services to the men and women who work with the horses in the barn area, or backside, of Churchill Downs and Trackside Louisville. Our programming includes English-as-a-Second-Language (ESL), equine care, computers, preparation for the citizenship & GED exams, Spanish, art, and music. Almost all of our classes & tutoring depends on volunteers.

The Learning Center's mission is to impact the professional and personal lives of employees on the backside, or barn area, of Churchill Downs & Trackside Louisville. The Learning Center's vision is to be a national model for the horse industry.
