Mission Statement

Gender Diversity increases the awareness and understanding of the normal range of gender variations in children, adolescents, and adults by providing family support, building community, increasing community awareness, and improving the well-being for people of all gender identities and expressions. We do this work in the Seattle area, greater Puget Sound, and beyond.

Description

Gender Diversity provides support and resources to both transgender individuals and to families raising transgender and gender non-conforming children. Through our support groups, referral services, and community building conferences and events, we provide the tools needed to engage in healthy decision-making with respect to gender identity and overall well-being. Gender Diversity promotes a culture of acceptance and understanding by offering a wide array of professional and educational opportunities resulting in a broader network of support for the gender non-conforming communities.

Such a wonderful experience! Volunteering was a fantastic way to attend the conference and absorb the great material the presenters provided. The volunteer coordinators went out of their way to make sure a volunteer could attend a specific session if they wanted - which I thought was a lovely and generous touch on their part. I would love to work with them again.

I am interested in supporting a culture of acceptance regarding gender diversity in our community. As a future Mental Health Therapist, it is important for me to understand the needs and aspirations of transgender youth in the Seattle area. Thank you for the opportunity! Kelly

I like how they support LGBT children, and educate the parents on how to be more open-minded about their children.
