Mission Statement

Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers everyone in your community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Relays are an overnight event, up to 24 hours in length. Teams of people from all walks of life have fun while raising much-needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and
treatment.

Description

The Relay For Life of Greene County started in 1996 and has been raising money for the American Cancer Society ever since. In 2012, we raied $128,900 for the Society. Each penny will either go toward research to find a cure for cancer or to programs to benefit cancer patients currently seeking treatment.

Our Relay is composed of teams. Anyone can start a team at their workplace, church, school, or even with just friends and family. There is a group of volunteers known as the Planning Committee who are responsible for all the planning that makes the event happen in June. Teams raise money from January to June. Some teams even raise money in the off season (July to December).

It is the Relay For Life of Greene County's goal to raise $133,000 by June 14, 2013. Won't you join us and make this goal a reality?
