Now with a facility of our own, we have expanded the breadth and depth of our rescue efforts on every level: from increasing the number of animals we can save at a given time, to offering programs for Maplewood, South Orange, and the surrounding areas. These programs include:
- A humane education curriculum for elementary school students and inter-generational groups;
- Obedience training;
- Assistance to hospice patients for controlling the fates of their pets; and
- Analysis by certified animal behaviorists of our shelter animals.
Mission Statement
JAC is a not-for-profit, all-volunteer coalition organized in 1989. We provide homeless dogs and cats with medical attention, shelter, and boarding, and we find them permanent loving homes. We're based in South Orange, New Jersey, but we place animals throughout the state and nearby states. Since our founding, we've rescued over 6,500 stray and abandoned pets. Without JAC's intervention, these animals would most likely have been euthanized in pounds or left to die on the streets. Our mission is to preserve life.
