Children's Advocacy & Protection Center

This is a well organized and effective group of dedicated volunteers who are trying to prevent child abuse and neglect by holding campaigns on such topics as "Parenting and Partying Don't Mix" )(substance abuse & parenting), "It Just Takes a Minute" (lack of supervision) "Period of Purple Crying" (given to new parents as they leave the hospital - attempts to stop shaking baby syndrome). It needs volunteers to distribute the materials and to helps with the Vigil it holds to remember those children who died the previous year from abuse or neglect, It also sponsors the Hancock-Settlemyre Award Banquet which recognizes a person or group who has made an impacton the community by its actions to reduce abuse and neglect. Volunteers are needed to organize this event; get the venue, speaker, menu, centerpieces, etc. for about 100 people. There are many opportunities to help. You don't feel your time is wasted - saving children from abuse and neglect is a worthy endeavor.
