Mission Statement

Our service's goal is to not only provide healthy food, but also meaningful and daily social interaction to people in the Charlottesville area who would otherwise not be checked on or fed. We are a Monday-Friday operation. Volunteer Meal-Packers are needed between 9:00AM-10:15AM. Volunteer Route-Drivers are needed to pick up their meals between 10:30AM-11:00AM. Route-Times vary in length from approximately 20-60 minutes depending on the mileage and number of clients. Meals on Wheels currently serves over 250 clients each and every day, and that would not be possible without the work of our incredible volunteer base! We are truly thankful for every single volunteer who walks through our door and we make it a priority here to support them as much as they support our organization.

Description

Meals on Wheels of Charlottesville/Albemarle is a non-profit organization founded in 1977 to deliver hot, nutritious meals to our homebound neighbors in the area dealing with food insecurity.

Meals on Wheels works to help better the health and support the independence and dignity of our community members struggling with financial, physical, and mental health challenges affecting their access to food. Food is a basic human right that our team has and always will strive to protect and improve access to within our community.
