MISSION STATEMENT: The Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN) is a not-for-profit, volunteer based organization on Long Island. It was organized to address the problems of hunger and homelessness with empathy and understanding by:
*Feeding the hungry in safe, clean, caring environments, with no questions asked.
*Providing emergency and transitional shelter for the homeless in dignified, home-like atmospheres.
*Exploring the ways and means to establish long-term shelters and permanent, low cost housing.
*Educating the public and the political structure as to the extent of hunger and homelessness and the needs of those who find themselves in this condition.
*Evaluating other basic needs: helping guide families and individuals to existing, recognized providers of social, educational, job-finding and other such services.
The volunteers, community members and staff of the INN share a belief that:
*Every human being is endowed with an innate dignity and worth that demands justice, respect and understanding.
*All human beings are interdependent and that each of us becomes more fully human as we experience our need for each other.
*The basic human needs of food and shelter must be available to every human being without regard to race or religious belief.
*Each of us has a duty to address the causes of poverty and injustice and to empower every human being to full participation in the community.
*Volunteers are our primary source of strength
*Finding unity in their diversity and fulfillment in their sense of purpose.
