Alzheimer's Association, Greater Iowa Chapter

The Alzheimer's Association, Greater Iowa Chapter offers services in five core areas: Care Consultation (a grouping of services to assist the person with the disease and/or their families in assessing needs, helping with problem solving, and providing support with all aspects of the disease); Education (programs that equip learners with the knowledge and skills needed to enhance the quality of life of the individual with dementia); Information and Referral (providing information about Alzheimers disease, services provided by the chapter, and community resources as they relate to the disease including a 24/7 Helpline); Safe Return/Safety Services (an identification program that assists in the safe and timely return of individuals with Alzheimers disease or related disorders who wander and become lost); Support Groups (regularly scheduled in-person gatherings of people with Alzheimers disease, family, friends, or caregivers who interact around issues relating to Alzheimers). Most services are offered free of charge to residents of 58 counties in Iowa and 5 counties in Illinois.

Mission Statement

To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
