Mission Statement

OUR MISSION: We partner with individuals and families at critical points in their lives to strengthen overall well-being and independence by delivering intensive home and community based services. OUR VISION: To bring health and hope directly into the homes of Central Virginia's most vulnerable families. Richmond

Description

Our programs are diverse and span the life course, but at the heart of our work is our presence in the home and our dedication to supporting strong, dynamic households that withstand life’s challenges, whether they be everyday or extraordinary.

Family Lifeline’s Living Well programming for older adults, persons with disabilities and their caregivers strives to help individuals remain living well in community settings of their choosing where they feel safe, connected, healthy, and engaged.

Our Visiting Volunteers Telephone Reassurance program is Family Lifeline’s signature volunteer opportunity. With this program, we strive to meet the social and emotional needs of some of the community’s most vulnerable population - older adults and persons with disabilities. We want to increase the opportunity for people to remain in their homes for as long as possible by reducing loneliness and isolation.

Volunteers provide our program participants with companionship, outreach, and advocacy. Volunteers commit to weekly visits and/or telephone calls for a year. Dates and times are up to you and your friend. Volunteers receive formal training focusing on person centered engagement and sensitivity to the needs of individuals facing difficult life circumstances (e.g., health issues, grief, etc.).
