Some of the Arc's projects include People First (a self-advocacy group for individuals with dd); advocacy; parents and sibling support groups; a bowling league; a monthly recreation program; a Taxi and Shuttle program; Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) Prevention program; and Kids on the Block Puppets program (presentations involving puppets which promotes awareness and understanding of people with disabilities in a positive way by emphasizing abilities and friendship in all people).We are currently looking for a person through AmeriCorps*VISTA to volunteer for one year to help us to organize groups and persons with FAS prevention, public awareness, housing and transportation issues, Kids on the Block, publicity, and Internet Web site development.
Mission Statement
The Arc of Laramie County is committed to securing the opportunity for persons with developmental disabilities the right to choose and realize their goals of where and how they learn, live, work, and play. It is also committed to reducing the incidence and limiting the consequence of developmental disabilities through education, research, advocacy, and the support of families, friends, and the community.
