Mission Statement

Stand Down provides homeless citizens of Austin with access to services and resources necessary to reintegrate into the community and to promote public awareness about homelessness.

Description

'Stand Down' is a military term for time of rest and rejuvenation that soldiers have after coming in from the battlefield. The Austin community, partnering with the Veterans' Administration (V.A.), host 'Stand Down' events in their communities to help people in homeless situations rest and rejuvenate from their daily struggles and to learn about services in the community. Austin, as many other cities, choose to include non-veterans also.
