To identify areas of unmet needs for physically impaired persons in the community that are needed and not being met. To access those needs in terms of greatest urgency and those that TCPI can provide with its staff and resources. To work with and help mobilize such community services that might exist. To develop such new or extended services that are needed.
*Information / Counseling / Referrals: This service helps handicapped persons and family members to make decisions on what to do first and where to get help. The people that call us want to know where to start in the jungle of health and rehabilitation agencies. We try to give them the information they need to find a solution for themselves or a family member. *FREE Computers for Visually Impaired Persons.: TCPI provides computers, free of charge, (with a $100 donation) to visually impaired persons. Last year, we shipped 400 computers, bringing the total to 1,540 in five years. Videos for the Visually Impaired *Videos for the Visually Impaired: We maintain a circulating library of over 200 Descriptive Video titles. These are popular movie titles that play in a VCR, with specially enhanced audio tracks. A voice-over provides information that helps the user follow the plot â describing objects, characters, events and actions not evident from the sounds and dialog on the original videotape.
Texas Center for the Physically Impaired accepts donations. Donate Now.
