Mission Statement
To provide a caring and respectful environment for children with learning disabiltities where they are given the opportunity to achieve their highest potential, become life-long learners and develop into productive, responsible citizens of their community. Our vision is to create a community of life-long learners.
Description
Our target population are students in grades 1-12 who are diagnosed with or exhibit characteristics of learning disabilities. These students are average to above-average intelligence who experience failure in a traditional school setting. Serving up to 72 students, we provide a caring and structured environment where multi-sensory research-based techniques are used. They learn strategies and skills to help them find success in their traditional school environment. In addition to the classroom work, our students benefit from our occupational and speech/language therapy departments, our counseling services, our technology training and our physical education, music and art instruction. Our overall teaching theory is diagnostic prescriptive, meaning we consistently observe student successes or continued deficiencies and alter the curriculum or teaching method accordingly. Our goal is to help students gain and implement learning skills to use when they return to their home school.
