Mission Statement

We are a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals, improves our communities, and aids in conserving our world - one computer at a time.

Description

Community Computer Alliance (CCA) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that empowers individuals, improves our communities, and aids in conserving our world - one computer at a time. CCA provides workforce development and job readiness opportunities for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities through our strategic partnerships. Our job readiness program is directly fueled by our licensed and bonded electronic recycling services, which provides career assessment opportunities and long-term internships to individuals who are interested in learning more about technology-a skill that is highly marketable, but unattainable to adults with disabilities. Participants in our program learn job discovery, team work, and personal growth to promote future employment opportunities.

I have been volunteering at Community Computer Alliance for five months. My interest in building computers lead me to Community Computer Alliance. I really enjoy fixing and improving computers. But over the last few months I have found something I enjoy more than taking apart computers. Playing with the computers is fun and all, but the feeling I get when I do something that REALLY helps the people in our community is so much better. I have taken my access to computers and technology for granted. There is a serious technology disparity in Columbus. AS our society becomes more and more reliant on technology this "Gap between Technology and OUR Community" will only become greater. The youth in our community absolutely need access and training on computers. The jobs they will have in 10 years will require computer literacy. There are so many different things I can do at CCA to help people and grow the charity. I will continue to volunteer and recommend it to my friends.
