Mission Statement
The mission of the Humane Society of Northwest Georgia is to reduce the number of healthy animals euthanized in Whitfield County through the continuation of our successful adoption program, aggressive spay/neuter program, promotion of responsible pet ownership and humane education.
Description
We help our community in several ways. First, we operate a shelter for dogs and cats. These animals are pulled from the local animal control, vetted, and are offered for adoption.
Second, we provide the community with low-cost spay/neuter certificates for area vets and help two, out of the area, spay/neuter organizations on their monthly and bi-monthly trips to our community to provide low-cost spay/neuter.
Third, we provide educational programs and handouts to the local schools and youth groups along with educating adults at any function to which we are invited.
Fourth, we provide food to our local Meals on Wheels organiztion to help feed the pets of these homebound individuals. In conjunction with this we also provide pet food to area residents who, because of the economy, cannot maintain the feeding of their pets.
And last, we advocate for animals in any way we can.
