Awesome place
I have volunteer over 10 years. I have received great trainings and the staff is always there for the volunteers.
I have over 3000 hours a year for over 4 years and it keeps me very busy and young as I don't have time to thinkn about bad things I work day and night as a member of the DAT and office
work also teaching all training and some time get to traval all over the states and I like hepling folks
I began volunteering with the Broward Red Cross in 2004. I have found it to be an organization that has great values and is worthy of the giving of my spare time. The people who's lives we touch in the Disaster Action Team need our help and I proud to be part of a great organization.
I volunteered with this chapter of the Red Cross for over 3 years, and volunteered close to 5K hours in that time. I've been deployed Four times in that time on three National Disasters as a Supv, (Team Leader) on their National Disaster Health Services Response Team during Katrina, Rita, Wilma, and California Wild Fires (San Diego). As well as volunteering locally for the DAT Teams (Diasater Assistance Team) as a Team Leader.
From when I first started volunteering with this agency I was noticing that it was very seldom that I saw the same volunteers for more than 2 or 3 months. Every time I asked I was told that this area was like this, That, "people around here don't like to volunteer for to long". Something I did not believe about the people from our county. As time went on I realized more and more why it was, and that was that none of the Red Cross paid personnel did anything as long as there were volunteers around. Volunteers are USED not appreciated at all. Don't Bother.
