Spirit of Service focuses on mobilizing the volunteer resources of the members of religious congregations of the 1,200 plus churches and synagogues in the greater Kansas City area. Computer databases identifying the volunteer needs of the community are made available to theses organizations in several ways including the Internet.

The basic mission of Spirit of Service is to provide a link between the faith community of greater Kansas City and the social services needs of the community.
